More About Me and My Background

I have been practicing law for more than 30 years. I  graduated from Northeastern University School of Law in 1984, received a BA in Allied Health from Goddard College.

  • Over the course of my legal career, I developed expertise in elder law, estate planning, health and hospital law, employment law, contracts, and general business and commercial law. At various times, I worked for a state government office administering the Medicaid program, a Fortune 500 Company, two hospitals & health care systems, an HMO, and in private practice.

  • In 2010  I realized that my true passion was helping seniors, the disabled, and other vulnerable adults manage their healthcare, legal, and other affairs.  I became an Elder Specialist (CSA) and Professional Fiduciary in California.

  • I returned to Arizona in 2016 and opened a small legal practice in Tucson devoted to affordable wills, trusts and estate planning, elder law, and health law.

Aside from marrying my husband, going to law school was one of the best decisions I ever made.  I love being a lawyer, but both as an attorney and a human being, I believe it is essential to give back to the community.

A  few of my recent community and professional activities include:

  • Volunteer with Step Up To Justice and Southern Arizona Legal Aid

  • Member of the Tucson Alliance and the Tucson End of Life Care Coalition

  • Participant in Pima County Lawyer Referral Service

  • Volunteer lawyer with Wills for Heroes, providing  free wills for emergency first responders (e.g., law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics and EMS)

  • Counselor with HICAP Program (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program), free education and advocacy services to Medicare recipients.

These experiences turned out to be some of the most satisfying work of my career! But as rewarding as these experiences were, it really troubled me that people affected by aging, illness or disability often could not afford get the legal, health care and social services they needed.  This was a major contributing factor for setting up my low cost legal practice.
